Altered Box Swap Participants

Well, we only had three participants for the inaugural Housewives Altered Box swap here on Altered Pages, but the ones I received were great. Here’s Tristan’s Box Rosa’s Box and finally, Marilyn’s The boxes have all been swapped around and have found their way to their new homes. I want to thank Tristan and Rosa for participating with me.  As long as I get two people signed up for a swap, that swap will happen.

Making Progress with the Office cleaning & reorganizing

So far emptied 8 boxes (biggish cardboard ones) and sorted through 24 smaller boxes, consolidating and cleaning.   Lot's of duplications in the boxes, NOT now!   I love the ones that simply say "Embellishments"! Dumped a whole box of catalogs, HEAVY still making piles to sort through And this is the hallway, boxes and bins and bags OH MY!  Dragged it all out of the office, so I have a real need to get it all put away!     The neighbors will reccommend me to Hoarders TV! I do see that the future brings a much neater environment.   Until I make the next projects, fill orders or put together customer kits!    OH well, that's fun, right?

Having Fun with Altered Pages

Hi Everyone!  I'm Peg Rounds and I am so happy to be a new design team member for Altered Pages!  I'm am having so much fun already here.  Today I'd like to share with you a quick late night project that I did using items from the Altered Pages store .  The only thing on this that was not from there is the ribbon because I didn't have any, but that's changed.  It's now on it's way!  Be sure to check out the cool ribbon by Glitz they carry here .  I love making tags.  Besides being used for gifts they can also be used for fun things such as bookmarks.  If you're like me and love to read, you can never have enough bookmarks.  At night I often want to work on one of my craft projects, but am too tired or it's too late to start something large so I will sit and create a tag.  On this one, I used the manila tags for a base.  They help to make the project sturdy and allows you to stamp or write a saying on the back if you'd like to decorate

Literal Spring Cleaning

I can't take it anymore!    My space is protected by Killer Dust Bunnies! Let's get a dialogue going on how best to organize our stashes.    What do you use to corral items?  Are you a box, shelf or bin person?   Do you like clear boxes, drawers, labeling, color coding or what else? I found these cool drawers on Amazon.com  Have I told you that I have become an Amazon junkie? You can get ANTYHING there!  And not always from big suppliers, they sell little guys stuff too. We have our favorite coffee and teabags delivered monthly, it seems an Amazon package shows up at least twice a week with something.  Below is a hodgepodge that will be dismantled this week.  I do love my IKEA dining room sideboard, the drawers are shallow and meant for linens but are perfect for German Scrap, boxes of buttons and trims, etc.    I do love the black and see thru drawers but cannot find them anymore.  The photo below is obviously a work in progress, and you should see the closet!  I am d

In the spirit of Spring, I made this banner kit because I couldn't resist the flower seed images & these women on Jean's site! They just spoke to me!! And, I've always wanted to hang a sweet banner in my home! The kit is chock-full of amazing goodies to create a banner as close to mine as possible (all 6 flags)!! Here's what the FABULOUS Jean has pulled together for the kit: "You receive chipboard, tart tins, German Glass Glitter, collages, text pages, muslin and other fabric pieces.  You also get a foam paint brush, ink pad, paper flowers, lace,

AP Collage Backgrounds

AlteredPages is still the Queen of Collages with almost 3000 sheets available! Look at how versatile they can be, do you see the green one used on Katrina's darling little Birdies in the previous post? If you have not seen the collage sheet backgrounds you have missed a very important item.   Katrina used them in her ATC's so beautifully.  click here to see just some of the fabulous sheets

Animal ATCs

Hi everyone, Katrina here. I am a member of the design team and I am from the UK. This is my first post on the blog and I have been playing with some of the animal images that are such fun. I have made many, many ATCs over the years but they are such a great size to use and great to swap with your crafting friends. They are also just right to use up all these little scraps and images left over from your larger projects. If you have never tried this size then give it a go, an ATC is always 2.5 x 3.5, either landscape or portrait and there is only one rule, they must be exchanges for another ATC or given as a gift, but never sold. For the bird ATC I used images from the Tweedle Dee, green background and French Postage For the Style ATC I used images from the Travel and Curiosities of nature. Happy crafting! love Katrina

Wild West Tag Book Swap

Hello, your Swap Princess here.  It’s time for another swap from Altered Pages.  We plan on hosting these swaps on a monthly basis, starting around the 15th of each month.  The next swap will be posted in April, so there is going to be a little overlap until we get all the bugs worked out (& your Swap Princess gets into the swing of things). This go round, we will be doing a Tag Book Swap, with a Wild West theme in honor of Arizona’s 100th anniversary. Okay, you have a lot of options here.  You can choose to go with Cowboys, Cowgirls, Indians, Ladies of the Evening, Ranchers, Miners, or even a mix of them all! Here’s what you need to do.  Take a minimum of 5 tags (please, nothing smaller than 2-3/8” x 4-3/4”) and decorate them using the Wild West theme.  Bind them together (it can be as simple as a binder ring inserted through the tags’ holes) and send them to me.  I will swap them around and mail them back out.  Don’t forget to put your information on back (name, date, series,

Chinese New Year - a little late!

Hi everyone! Becky here today to share a post that I have been meaning to get up for about a month now!! These pictures are of the altered box I did for a Chinese New Year swap some of the Yahoo Group members participated in earlier this year. SO! Here it is...This is the Year of the Dragon , so that was our theme for the altered boxes. I used a shadow box from an AP set & decorated the outside with scraps of Joss papers, a Chinese restaurant menu & other scrap. For the lid, I brushed on Tim Holtz's Distress Paint in Antique Brass pretty heavily to get some texture. Then I punched holes in the sides to slide the chopsticks in. Inside, I made a mini-accordian book that's attached to the box... I used images from 3 different Dragon collages to fill in the pages of the mini, as well as more Joss papers & scraps - including some fortunes I had saved! I think it turned out pretty cool & was a lot of fun to do! I sure hope my swap partner
